Additional Topics of Discussion

  • Electing next years board
    • A call was put out before and during the meeting for any new board members volunteers.   With no new volunteers, the current board was re-elected.    Please consider volunteering at any point.   We would love to have fresh perspective and the board can vote to add mid-term members at any time.

  • Netting on the lake
    • A boat with bright lights and nets was sited on Clearwater lake the last week in May.   The concern was this was illegal netting of fish.
    • It was advised that if you EVER suspect illegal activity including net fishing you should call the police when you see it.   They can determine if the activity is illegal and provide the appropriate response.
    • In this case, it has been confirmed that the DNR was doing Electro-fishing on Clearwater Lake to determine the walleye fingerling population.    Watch this video from the MN DNR to see what and why they do this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrwpIwb1TRw
  • Crow Wing County forestry near Clearwater Point Road
    • The county forestry job on the west side of the lake was discussed.   There was a strong feeling of dissatisfaction and unhappiness about the way the logging was done.
    • A followup will be added to the web page.
  • Clearwater Lake Conservancy approach to Beaver management
    • A general question was put to the membership about management of the Beaver in the Nokasippi watershed through trapping.   The vote was a Yea to support trapping as the board determines appropriate.
