Lake Management Plan -

Water Level Goals
The Clearwater Lake Conservancy goal is to recognize when our lake level is not in normal ranges, and then to see if there is something that can be done to get back on track.
There is nothing that can be done about drought or excessive rain. That leaves the focus on the Nokasippi outflow and teaching lake uses about things to do and to avoid when the water level is out of normal ranges. |
Identify, Document and React to Watershed issues.
Cleared boulders at the boat launch to protect props
Renewed annual DNR permit to move obstructions
Outsourced river inspections and clearing obstructions
In the past, volunteers have been used to keep the culvert clear under Country Road 8. In 2024 a contractor was hired to routinely check the Nokasippi watershed from the boat landing dam to the County Road 8 culvert.

July Inspection
The contractor kayaked from the boat landing to the culvert and found no obstructions. There was minimal debris at the culvert that was cleared.
The lake water levels are receding a bit but are still above historic averages. Keep that in mind as you are out boating and the impact wakes have on shorelines.

Establish Benchmarks of Water Levels
The MN DNR tracked water levels until 1980. This gives us a guideline for our lake. A volunteer now measures the lake level and reports it to the DNR to incorporate with their data.
The water tracking will give a quantified number to just how high or low the lake is.
