While all of our Lake Association events are over for the year, there is still plenty to get excited about in the area.  This message area will change regularly with current lake and local events.  You can check out the Calendar link on the bottom of every page for a calendar listing.  If you have any special function or type of function you want to see added to the calendar, use the Contact page to let me know.   I would love to add events that are important to our members!
Fall is such a fun time with events for both kids and adults. Here are some highlights for the next few weeks!

Oktoberfest at Ruttgers

Oktoberfest on 10/24, 10am - 4pm at Ruttgers has it all!  Beer gardens and keg tapping, unique German food, the best craft sale in the area, and bonfires, kid crafts and play areas for the young ones!   What isn't to love.

Corn Mazes and Haunted Houses

October brings out the ghosts and the harvest moon!   Around the area are plenty of corn mazes, haunted houses and fall produce.  Check out a few of the following to enjoy the fall festivities.
  • Corn Maze at St. Mathias Farm:  October 22 and 29, 10am - 6pm.  Cost is $9 for ages 12 and up, $5 for children ages 3-11, and 2 and under free. This price includes the maze and hayrides on our comfortable wagons through 40 acres of wooded forest. Don’t forget to feed the llamas and alpacas too!

  • Haunted Trail at Northland Arboretum:  October 20 & 21 Walk the Haunted Trail. Young children should be accompanied by an adult.  No flashlights allowed. Enjoy a bonfire and cider at the end of the trail.

Performing Arts

Once summer starts to fade, the performing arts start back up.  This includes Central Lakes College (CLC) and Franklin Arts Center.  Check out their web pages and our calendar for more information.

Seasonal Events

I'll have more next month about all the holiday seasonal events.  However I did want to call out a special one that I think is both great fun and very important to our area.  That is the Deerwood Volunteer Fire department Turkey Bingo fundraiser happens on November 21, 2016 at 7pm.  It is held at the Deerwood Auditorium.  There are several things going on at the event; turkey bingo, a raffle drawing with a top prize of a Benelli Super Black Eagle Shotgun, door prizes of fire safety equipment and a food concession stand with proceeds going to the Crosby-Ironton Grad Blast.  The primary one, however is FAMILY bingo with the bingo prize being a Turkey!  Kids are welcome to play and the bingo cards are amazingly inexpensive.  So buy a lot of them.  After all, these are the people that will come to our rescue in case of a fire!

Since 1954, Clearwater Forest has served as a retreat center and summer camp.  They are owned and managed by Presbyterian Clearwater Forest, Inc.  Clearwater Forest is an important resident on our lake.  With 4+ miles of lake shore and over 1000 acres around  Clearwater, everyone benefits from their mission statement "... be a faithful steward of God’s creation."
